Geographic location

Cancún is located in the state of Quintana Roo, which was inhabited by the Itzaes, a Mayan people who migrated from the South and learned to live in harmony with the jungle. The fortress of Tulúm, and the cities of Cobá and Kohunlich are some of the extraordinary vestiges still remaining of this great civilization.

While the remains of countless known sites exist, they remain largely unexplored. It is no exaggeration to state that the whole jungle is replete with traces of their magnificent culture.
