Manga del Mar Menor (Murcia)Location: The Manga del Mar Menor is a shallow lagoon or coastal wetlands area which is the largest of its kind in Spain in terms of surface area. Its waters are highly salty and maintain a warm temperature (5º C higher than the Mediterranean). It is located in the Murcia region in south-eastern Spain, in the Costa Cálida tourist zone. The Manga del Mar Menor is some 300 km from Valencia (to the north), approximately 470 km from Madrid (northwest), and 72 kilometres from the city of Murcia.

By Road: The Manga del Mar Menor can be reached by road from Valencia by taking the AP-7 motorway heading towards Alicante-Murcia, and then continuing on towards Torrevieja-Cartagena. It can be reached from Madrid by taking the A-31 and A-30 dual carriageway. From Murcia, the route is via the national A-30 road, and the AP-7 towards Cartagena. By Train: Murcia has direct RENFE rail connection with the main cities of Spain. The closest train station to La Manga is in Cartagena. Right next to it is the bus station, which offers direct service to Manga del Mar Menor.
