New flights to Spain announced

Low-cost airline bmibaby has announced new flights from Manchester Airport to Madrid and Barcelona, increasing Britons' access to Spain.

Starting in the summer, the new additions to bmibaby's schedule mean that the airline will operate 186 flights a week to 14 destinations during the high season.

Flights to Madrid commence on June 16th and will operate on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, with one-way fares starting from £24.99 including taxes and charges.

The introduction on September 8th of a four-times-a-week service to Barcelona will operate on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, with fares also starting from £24.99.

Crawford Rix, managing director of bmibaby, pointed out that the new flights are "great news for those looking for an exciting break at low fares".

"Our new four flights a week to Madrid, a culturally rich destination will delight many with its cosmopolitan charm," he added.

The airline is also introducing new flights to Lisbon and Ireland.

Earlier this month, Ryanair announced its 26th European and fifth Spanish base in Barcelona.
