Sustainable Architecture Chair

The Sustainable Architecture Chair has been created as a result of a collaboration agreement signed by José Luis Olivas, president of Bancaja Habitat's parent company, Bancaja, and the vice-chancellor of Valencia Polytechnic University, Juan Juliá.

The aim is to promote research and raise awareness concerning sustainable practices in the field of architecture. Furthermore, it will serve as a communication and documentation forum for students and professionals linked to the area.

In order to achieve this, a wealth of archives is to be allocated to the chair, including the most relevant literature on the subject and the latest publications on current trends. In addition, the creation of an Internet portal will allow access to any available information, as well as functioning as a forum for the exchange of experiences.

The department is to be directed by Professor José Maria Lozano, head of the Architectural Projects Department at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, and author of various publications on the subject. Furthermore, the Bancaja Habitat Sustainable Architecture Chair will award prizes to students whose final projects excel in the area of sustainability.

Undergraduates, postgraduates and doctorate students will be able to take advantage of a pool of work experience opportunities in companies and institutions. Through this initiative, such individuals will be able to apply and develop their technical knowledge on the subject and to publish scientific articles.

Moreover, the activity of the chair will include the promotion of and participation in seminars and conferences both in Spain and abroad.
