18% of Spain’s foreign population elect to buy residences in Alicante, converting the province into the region with the highest amount of property purchases and sales by foreigners throughout the country, according to the Immigration Minister, Rafael Blasco.The province of Alicante has the largest presence of foreigners in all of the Community of Valencia, and the second largest in all of Spain
Overall, according to comments made by Blasco in a press release, 390,000 foreigners live in Alicante, representing approximately 20% of the province’s total population.
The regional percentage breakdown of foreigners residing in Alicante is: Marina Alta (40.6% of the regional population), Baix Segura (37.07%) and Marina Baixa (30.23%). The Immigration Minister says that he is happy with this “preference” stating that it “implies a great impetus for the province” and converts “immigration into a revitalising factor for the economy of Alicante, a model for prosperity and an example of well-being.”
