Spain attracts Yorkshire holidaymakers

Spain has been identified as one of the main hotspots for holidaymakers from Yorkshire last month.

According to new figures from Robin Hood Airport, direct flights to Alicante were the most popular service among air passengers in March 2008.

Meanwhile, flights between the Doncaster-based facility and Malaga also made it into a list of the top five routes.

This highlights the continuing appeal of the country among leisure travellers from the UK, in particular the Spanish Costas.

Robin Hood Airport added that the overall number of air passengers it handled last month was 12.6 per cent higher than the amount recorded 12 months earlier.

Commenting on the figures, Hugh Lang of Peel Airports said this is "something to be very proud of".

This comes after the Telegraph stated that the accessibility to a country is one of the most important factors to consider when eyeing up a property purchase away from the UK.

Since Spain is well-serviced by carriers such as Ryanair and Thomsonfly, consumers living in the vicinity of Robin Hood Airport may find the country a good location to consider.
