New rail link to be built in Malaga

People in Malaga will soon be able to benefit from a series of improvements to the region's transport network.

According to the Typically Spanish website, work on a 3km rail line across Malaga's university campus is set to commence next week.

The project is expected to cost about €15.2 million and will take more than a year to complete.

This forms part of a wider scheme to build a metro system across the region, as lines to areas on the outskirts will also be created.

In addition, travellers should be able to travel directly between the university and Malaga city, before heading on to its nearby technology park.

Work on the new line in Teatinos will begin on Monday and is scheduled to be completed by September 2009.

Kyero.com recently revealed that house prices in places such as Malaga and Seville are almost a quarter above the norm for Spain as a whole, reports Homes Worldwide.

This has been attributed to the fact that both places are serviced by AVE, the country's high-speed rail service.
