Location 'important for foreign property buyers'

Mittwoch, 9. Juli 2008

Overseas property buyers have been urged to pick the location of their residence very carefully.

According to the Spanish Property Owners Guild (SPOG), this is one of the most important issues that foreign investors have to address.

This is because they need to make sure that their chosen market meets all the criteria they have set, such as whether it is appropriate to their personal or medical requirements in the long-term.

Paul Bradley, spokesperson for the SPOG, added that people who are buying in Spain should also get legal advice from an outside organisation.

He commented: "Make sure they are independent to the seller.

"[And] learn about Spanish property law to make sure your lawyer knows what they are doing."

According to Zurich Private Clients, more than a quarter of Britons with a second home abroad own a residence in the country.
