A growing number of young British people are looking to get on the property ladder by purchasing a house in another country, an expert has stated.
Property editor of BuyAssociation Paul Collins said that buying abroad is becoming "more and more popular" among UK people, as prices are generally lower and there is less pressure to make quick decisions when looking at a property.
He said that first-time buyers viewing homes in European countries, including Spain, usually get "a little bit more time to actually think about it" than they would in UK, meaning that process of buying a property can be more satisfying.
Mr Collins said that there is also a "generational" aspect to the preference of new buyers for overseas property.
"Younger buyers who are first-time buyers at the moment have tended to travel more than the older generation, so they are more comfortable with moving around Europe
and using low-cost airlines," he explained.
Homes in European locations such as Spain are also popular with people who have reached retirement age, a survey by Scottish Widows revealed recently.
