Experts debate golf tourism in Malaga

As part of the International conferences on Golf and the Environment, a study was published entitled El producto turístico de golf en los países del Mediterráneo (“The Golf Tourism Product in Mediterranean Countries).

According to the report, the Mediterranean is currently one of the destinations with the greatest worldwide capacity to attract business. It is forecast that the average annual rate of growth will be 3% by 2020.

Golfing facilities in the Mediterranean region include 1,133 courses, of which over 55% are 18-hole courses. Andalusia, with 90 courses, has 25% of the facilities currently available in Spain (359), and in 2007 these attracted 360,000 tourists.

The average stay for golf tourists is 14 days.
