The one common denominator throughout the region is, undoubtedly, its varied and diversified tourist offerings, given that in every corner of the region, travellers may find traces of other civilisations, rich gastronomy and traditions lost in time. Whether a tourist chooses to explore the region’s interior, discovering the different mountain villages, or he decides to drive through the coastal towns, his vacation will be filled with a never-ending list of attractions.
This intense offer has enabled the Autonomous Region of Valencia to become Spain’s third-most popular tourist destination in 2007, according to the survey, Movimientos Turísticos de los Españoles (Spanish Tourist Movements).
Also the region’s golf tournament, the Comunitat Valenciana Másters-Castellón Costa Azahar, will be the sporting event to make the region’s Castellón province the centre of attention of the most important tourist markets, such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and the Scandinavian Countries.
Last year, Valencia’s La Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (The City of Arts and Sciences) received over 4 million tourists.
On the other hand, Alicante served as the starting line for the Volvo Ocean RACE, which complemented the province’s traditional sun and beach offerings.
