Consumers in the UK are not willing to let the credit crunch force them to sacrifice their summer holiday, it has been claimed.
Luxury Travel Magazine stated that while people may have given up a trip abroad ten years ago, they are unlikely to do so today.
Alyson Cook, editor of the publication said this is for a number for a number of reasons, such as the poor weather the UK has experienced over the last few summers.
She added that people's reduced work-life balance has also played a part, as people are determined to get the chance to be with their spouse and children.
Ms Cook commented: "Increasingly people are cash-rich but time-poor and the time that they spend with their family on holiday is increasingly important to them."
This comes after the Association of British Travel Agents stated that the number of bookings for this summer has been very healthy.
Spokesperson Sean Tipton said this shows that going on holiday is now widely seen as a necessity rather than a luxury.
