New homeownership figures for the Valencia region reveal that Alicante province contains the highest number of properties bought by people from overseas.
According to a report by the Ceimigra Foundation, Bancaja and the Regional Immigration Department, 70 per cent of the properties under foreign ownership in Valencia are found in the Alicante area
Homes Worldwide states that the city of Alicante and its surrounding towns are popular with overseas buyers because they are not as busy as neighbouring resorts such as Benidorm, which is popular with young holidaymakers, but still offer much in the way of activities, amenities and culture.
The area is also accessible from a large number of European countries, due to the modern airport at Alicante.
In addition, Euro Weekly News reports that the province has the highest number of foreign residents in Valencia, with 390,000 of the area's inhabitants coming from overseas, including a large British community.
